Hi! My name is Emma. I started dancing at nearly 8 years old and I immediately loved it. Originally my non-dancer mum swore she'd never become a dance mum and that I'd never even compete - if only she could see herself now!
My dance teacher is Margaret Rose MacInnes of the MRD's. I just love my team! There is never a dull class and I feel part of a family. I am so grateful to of been able to make so many friends for life through dancing and all the amazing opportunities I've been able to experience since starting my dancing career.
I just love highland dancing, competing and performing. I can't imagine ever giving it up. The last 18 months since starting TT have been amazing I have travelled around the world to perform in Tattoos and Compete in competitions: Hawaii, Canada, America & Europe.
I am heading of to study medicine in September this year (2024) and I will be taking all my much loved dancing outfits I am not ready to give up yet !
Like everyone else, my dancing journey hasn't been easy, full of trials and tribulations. One of the biggest ones was when I was diagnosed with scoliosis, having a correctional surgery in 2021. I didn't think i'd ever be back to full dancing ability, but I am proud to say the opposite and i'm glad my transparency of my condition has helped other dancers going through the same thing.
I personally think the best thing about dancing is the people you meet, the friends you make, the laughs you have and the memories you will always have.
I am so pleased with the progression of Turnout Technique so far and I am so excited for the future!
